Utah is a skier’s paradise. Acres of amazing ski resorts and backcountry trails are located a mere 30 minutes from Salt Lake City. Whether you are looking for some nice groomers or pristine powder, there is something for every skier in Utah. These are our picks for the best places to ski in Utah. 

 

The Staples 

Park City Mountain Resort 
Park City is the ultimate ski town. The resort itself has more than 7,300 skiable acres, 3,226 vertical feet, and over 330 trails. In 2002, Park City hosted sections of the Winter Olympic Games. Over 100 groomed trails and great mountain amenities make the mountain a luxurious and family friendly destination. 
Alta/Snowbird
These two resorts, located in Little Cottonwood Canyon are powder paradises. Of Alta’s 119 runs, over half of them are rated as advanced. Skiers come from all over the world for the amazing terrain it offers. Snowbird, similar to Alta, is known for its difficult terrain. A fourth of its 140 runs are double black diamond rated. Just 30 minutes from Salt Lake City, these two spots are great for the adrenaline junkie. 

 

Deer Valley
Deer Valley is the premier luxury ski destination in Utah. With 2,000 skiable acres, the resort has an uphill capacity of over 50,000. This means, no matter the crowds, you will be able to find a little piece of wilderness for yourself. The on mountain amenities are unbeatable. Tourists and stars from all over the world flock to Deer Valley to experience its unmatched luxury. If you are looking to carve your turns in style, this is the place for you. 

Off the Beaten Path

Brighton Resort
This resort is one of Utah’s best kept secrets. Instead of hearing about it through fancy advertisements, locals and longtime fans of the resort spread the word about its amazing snow. Its 1,050 skiable acres are all accessible by high speed quad lifts so you can get the maximum amount of powder laps in. There is terrain for everyone, from groomers to chutes. 
Powder Mountain 
Powder Mountain boasts the most skiable acres in the United States at over 8,000. There is no better place to find your own piece of powder heaven. This resort allows you to ski amazing backcountry terrain and snow conditions all with the luxury of lift access. Located an hour north of Salt Lake City, this resort avoids the crowded location of all the other Utah resorts for a slightly longer drive. 
Solitude 
Just down the road from Brighton, Solitude gives off major local ski bum vibes. Its location in Little Cottonwood Canyon makes for epic storms with an average of over 500 inches of snowfall per year. This local favorite, a mere 30 minutes from downtown SLC, has 1,200 skiable acres and 82 named runs. Of these 82 named runs, 50% hold a advanced or difficult rating.
