1. Echo Mountain – Closest to Denver, Colorado

Echo Mountain is the closest and most affordable ski resort located outside of Denver, CO, which makes it a great choice for beginners to learn how to ski or snowboard. In fact, this resort is located only 36 miles from Denver, located between Idaho Springs and Evergreen. If you are someone looking for shorter runs and affordable fun, this resort is for you. Additionally, Echo Mountain is a great place to start if you are new to resort skiing, as there is only one chair lift and nine runs.

2. Eldora Mountain – Colorado Skiing and Snowboarding

Eldora Mountain is located about an hour and fifteen minutes northwest of Denver, CO, therefore making it super convenient for visitors. While this resort only has around 700 skiable acres, you can still find terrain for every skier and rider’s ability level. Additionally, this resort is located outside of Nederland, CO, so there are many locals frequenting the resort. With Eldora Mountain, you can skip the I-70 traffic and head straight for the slopes in just 45 minutes from Denver.

3. Loveland Resort – Skiing and Snowboarding on I-70

This resort is the hidden gem of Colorado due to its lack of tourist crowds. Easy to access, the Loveland Ski area is located right off of I-70 at the top of the continental divide, and is just one hour away from Denver. Loveland is a great option to consider because it has over 100 trails and 1,800 acres of skiable terrain. Additionally, what makes this resort so unique is how easy it is to access from Denver and the variety of terrain the resort offers. Although there are plenty of intermediate and expert runs, there is still space for beginner skiers and riders. In fact, they have a designated area called the Loveland Valley for those wanting to ski and ride without the experts flying by them.

4. Ruby Hill Terrain Park – Denver, Colorado

Ruby Hill Terrain Park, centrally located in Denver, Colorado, is a great option for those who want to hit the rails for free nearby. It is very convenient due to the fact that skiers and riders don’t have to leave the city. In whole, the park has about 10 rails and a few boxes for skiers and riders to ride. Due to this, Ruby Hill is a great option for someone who wants to work on their skills before heading up to the mountains.
